This paper is a nice introductory tutorial on quantum computing and quantum communications, with few more details on the second topic and special emphasis on the inherent security of quantum communications and the related technological implementation challenges. It is well suited for non-physicists who wish to understand topics like qubits, entanglement, and quantum-based communication. The paper includes a long list of references, which successfully acts as a trigger for the reader to seek out and study additional sources.
This paper is a nice complement to the classic introductory paper by Rieffel and Polak [1]. Reading both papers together is a nice first step before attempting more extensive and detailed textbooks (for example, [2,3]).
