Sujoy Paul has worked across different industries including software, finance, consulting and healthcare. He has experience dealing with the whole data ecosystem including data modeling, databases, data mining, machine learning, and business intelligence. He has also led teams where he helped design, develop and implement monitoring tools. He has taught both in academia and industry. While working at Sybase and Accenture, he taught Sybase database and database optimization; while pursuing a PhD in the School of Process and Information Systems Engineering at the University of Surrey, UK, he taught a lecture module on ontologies and dictionaries on ‘-Omics’ at the School of Biomedical Sciences at the same university. Although he did not complete the PhD program, he did publish a paper on the integration of the knowledge base and database. He has other publications to his credit, including two books on SQL server replication published by Apress, and has also spoken at conferences. His other interests include knowledge management, the semantic web and bioinformatics.

He has a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, an M.Phil in the same discipline from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK and an MBA from Ivey Business School at Western University, London, Canada. He currently works as a manager of database services at Alberta Health Services (Canada) where he is responsible for managing the database team and, among other things, dealing with strategies and change management.
